If you are new to campervanning or driving around in a motorhome, this question is probably in the back of your mind.
Here are some things that you should keep in mind.
If you have a self-contained campervan or motorhome, you won’t have to rely on powered sites regularly. However, there will be times where you will want to base yourself at a powered site. As long as you conserve your power, everything should remain charged. you can do this by minimising the amount of time that you use to run the engine and maintain a benchmark of no longer than 1-2 hours each day.
If you are concerned about the other items in the campervan draining your power, you can keep the following in mind.
- You will find your cooker, heater, hot water, fridge all run on gas.
- There will be separate batteries for “house” and the truck.
- If you do run the house battery flat the truck will still start.
- If your camper has an air conditioner then these usually need mains power.
